Presentations, Influence, and Leadership

CEOs and executives speak from a unique perspective.

  • On the one hand, they are immersed in charting direction for their organizations. At the same time, support staff can insulate them from daily realities while conscientiously protecting their schedules and their time.  As a result, executives often have to work hard to imagine the world from the perspective of the rest of their people.
  • Senior execs constantly translate what makes value into the next quarter’s profit margins: they live with those numbers everyday. It’s easy to mistake numbers for vision. But most employees don’t share the same ongoing experience.  When it comes to connecting successfully, leaders need to translate the numbers they understand into the language and symbols that the rest of the world understands.

The first two situations produce an understandable outcome: Information is confused with persuasion.  Interestingly, many executives don’t do enough of either.

After all, they’ve already worked through and accepted the argument that what they’re doing is worthwhile and have internalized the need and the reasoning involved. But their employees and the public at large haven’t participated in the discussions, and so they need more than just information.  They need to know why the new initiative or direction is worth the effort and what their expected involvement will be.

The punch line for leaders:  Information is not persuasion, numbers aren’t a vision, and most people don’t live within the executive decision process bubble.

Presentations, Influence, and Leadership will teach executives:

  1. How to connect with the organizational lives of managers and employees.
  2. How to create a compelling view of the future in compelling, everyday language.
  3. How to influence in a conversational way that prompts discussion and gains commitment.
  4. When and how and when to use effective visuals to support the message.
  5. How to initiate and lead meeting participation that generates topical discussion and meaningful action.

Designed for Leaders: CEOs, presidents, senior executives, business owners, entrepreneurs, and managers identified for placement in leader positions.

Participants will have completed “Roesler Method™ Presenting With Impact or possess basic competency and comfort speaking to groups.

Steve Roesler Factoids

Steve once made 59 speeches in 63 days while on a business speaking gig across the entirety of  South Africa. He fainted from exhaustion on day 61 in front of an audience of 3,000. When he awoke, he received a standing ovation. Steve is thinking of making this a regular part of his practice.

Steve coached the first African-American finalist, Miss New Jersey, in the Miss America Pageant.

More Curious Facts...

Steve once conducted sales presentation training for Pfizer with the participants being flown in from China and Brasil. Neither group spoke English. The two days were simultaneously translated in both languages and proved that a combination of design, focused graphics, and modeled activities can actually help you to bump up your game.
